Finally, the last trailer for the Avatar sequel The Way of Water has been released.
Avatar: The Way of Water has released a new trailer to coincide with the release of tickets. It’s widely anticipated that this will be one of the year’s top box office draws, and the extent of that anticipation will be revealed as early ticket sales data becomes available.
Most sequels experience a decline in quality with each succeeding instalment, but Avatar: The Way of Water hopes to do more than just that.
There was a good likelihood that a sequel would be too late for anyone to care by the time it was released, more than ten years after Avatar first hit theatres.
The success of Avatar: The Way of Water will determine whether or not James Cameron’s magnum effort will spawn a lengthy franchise. Cameron is already prepared to scale back his ambitions in the unlikely event that the picture does not perform well at the box office. Previous, he had stated:
If you’ve been waiting for more of James Cameron’s return to Pandora, the new trailer provides a sneak peek at what’s to come next month.
James Cameron, director of such blockbusters as The Terminator, Alien, and Titanic, appears to have found his true calling with his latest picture, The Way of Water.
Cameron went back to the surface after developing a vehicle to take him to the Mariana Trench’s depths so that he could begin production on the sequel to Avatar, the highest-grossing film of all time, which was released in 2009.
Cameron told the New York Times that he and the rest of the writing staff had created a plot so large that it would not fit into three films.
The 68-year-old director has a grand vision for the five-film Avatar series, but he knows that Hollywood is a results-based industry.
Cameron told the Associated Press, “It’s one thing to make a lot of money, it’s another thing to actually make a profit.” Though they may be visually appealing and generate a lot of revenue, we will no longer finance films that end up in the red. Let’s put it out there and see if people embrace it; we have to wait and watch.
The Way of Water will be presenting a one-of-a-kind acrobatic feat on the tightrope. Cameron predicted that the new picture would earn over $350 million worldwide, placing it in the top four all-time.
In other words, that’s the limit you’re willing to accept. It’s at that point that you’ll start making money. Cameron would only say the film was “extremely [expensive],” despite estimates that the budget was $250 million.
The December 16 release date for Avatar: The Way of Water has been announced. While it was only in theatres for a short period, Avatar has now made its way back to the Disney+ streaming service.
